I’m a Foster Carer and thinking of transferring from another Agency
If you are currently fostering for another agency we will prioritise your application to ensure a swift approval with us.
There are guidelines set by the government that must be adhered too, For more information please follow this link
We also require you to inform your current fostering agency as soon as you have made your decision to transfer to enable us to commence our background checks and arrange to read your case records held by your existing agency.
Contact UsI’m a Foster Child/Young Person
Living in one of our fostering households means you will become part of our agency too. We want you to feel like you have become part of a big family and we will support you and ensure you have access to lots of fun activities, days out and trips as well as providing you with additional support from another adult should this be something you would like.
All children and young people in our agency will receive a guide which will include more information about who we all are and what you can expect from us.
Contact UsTherapeutic Support
When a child/young person requests to see a therapist, or the professionals involved with the child/young person would like them to see a therapist, a referral is made for therapeutic support to begin.
A therapy planning meeting is held, this would ideally include: the social worker, the fostering social worker, the foster carer, a therapist and if appropriate, an educational representative. The purpose of this meeting would be to look at:
What is the need for therapy at this time
What is the foster child struggling with
Relevant background information
The goals of therapy and hoped-for outcomes
Times and dates for sessions
The first session with the child/young person, is an introduction session, if the child/young person prefers, the foster carer can attend. The session will not be a full session, usually around thirty minutes, depending on the age and needs of the child/young person. The purpose of the introduction session is about helping the child/young person feel safe. Giving them the opportunity to meet the therapist, visit the environment and ask any questions.
Following sessions would be built up slowly regarding the amount of time in the session. Once again dependent on the needs and age of the child/young person, with the eventual aim to build up to a forty-five-to-fifty-minute session.
Therapy review meetings will be held every eight weeks, including the social worker, fostering social worker, foster carer, therapist, and if appropriate a representative from education. The purpose of these meetings will be to:
Review how the therapy is going – discuss any issues
Consider any negative/positive outcomes
Discuss young person’s engagement
Discuss if therapy should continue

Contact UsContact Centre
Following Whispers has its own contact centre based in Margate.
Following Whispers Contact Centre is a safe, friendly and neutral place where children can spend time with one or both parents, and sometimes other family members. We are an accredited member of NACCC to an Enhanced level.
We hope to provide a child centred environment that puts the needs of the children first. Contact is often needed in situations where a parent’s past behaviour puts a child’s safety into question. Circumstances for which supervision might be ordered include past allegations of violence or abuse, either toward the other parent or child, substance abuse, or neglect.
Supervised contact may also be ordered in cases where a parent is re-entering a child’s life after a prolonged period without contact.
While it may place certain restrictions on how a parent and child can spend their time together, supervised parenting time still allows parents to foster relationships with their children.
